Nature Nidra with Conscious Connected Breathwork journey
In this yoga nidra/breathwork hybrid, you will be encouraged to dive into a relationship with something found in nature, experiencing it’s wisdom qualities. We will first rest in our inner resource cultivating a sense of safety with ourselves, then scan the body and practice a shamanic inspired conscious connected breath work to experience the natural world as vibrant and alive. Through this lens, we come to see ourselves as nature.
There are some contraindications for conscious connected breathing. If you have high or low blood pressure, have a history of heart conditions, glaucoma or detached retinas, a history of strokes or aneurisms, schizophrenia, pi-polor disorder, are in the early stages of pregnancy, or have had recent abdominal surgery, please consult your physician before practicing. You can still practice this nidra now though, by practicing coherence breathing instead, breathing through the nose inhaling for the count of 5, exhaling for the count of 5 or just practicing natural breathing with no breath retentions.
If you experience cramping , tightening, tingling, paralyzing, or numbing in the hands or feet (some call it lobster hands!), the first thing you need to know is THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR! This is called Tetany and it is temporary and will go away on its own once you return to a natural breath. Tetany is the body's response to changing blood ph levels becoming more alkaline. There are no long term effects.
